To get to Amagansett, the best way from our house in Middletown is to take a ferry from New London, and then two smaller ferries through Shelter Island and Sag Harbor on Long Island. After the ferries, it's a short drive through South Hampton/East Hampton (where we spotted many rediculously expensive convertables and a shopping strip with stores that rival 5th Avenue!), finally ending in Amagansett.

Once we reached the house, Suzanne, Sam and Leslie joined us. Instead of taking ferries, they drove across the entire legth of Long Island from Brooklyn.
As soon as we got to Burton's, we were fed a huge seafood lunch and Montauk Bake Shop desserts...and then we changed into our swimsuits and hit the beach, which was just a minute walk down the road!
It was a gorgeous day, the beach was outstanding, and the waves were huge!

It was certainly a welcome vacation, and my first trip to the beach all summer! Sunday was a gorgeous day too, so we hit the beach again and swam in the pool. (Yes, Burton's house is amazing. He has intricate gardens, a beautiful pool, and a collection of erotica throughout the house that rivals the Sex Museum!)
After the beach, we headed to dinner in Montauk, the next town over, which literally is at the end of the island.

The crew. It was really hard to leave, so I hope we get to make the trip again next year. I definitely could get accustom living the Hampton's lifestyle!
