On Wednesday, June 8th, Mumphy was honored at the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce annual awards dinner as a 2011 Distinguished Citizen! The honor is given every year to a successful business person who also exemplifies community involvement and leadership! She was selected from a pool of over 225 nominees this year!
The dinner was attended by over 600 people from the community, and obviously our whole family! Mumphy sat at the head table.
She gave a lovely acceptance speech, which focused on the importance of giving back to the community which had given her so much.
Here she is with the other two award recipients, Harry Burr (McCutcheon Burr Insurance) and Gregory Shook (Essex Savings Bank).She was also given proclamations from Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and the Mayor of Middletown. June 13th is officially 'Deborah D. Shapiro Day' in the city of Middletown!!!
