One year later...Still Rockin'!

On Saturday, August 1st, 2009, we invited family and friends to relive the celebration of our marriage that took place ONE WHOLE YEAR AGO!!! (I can hardly believe that a whole year has passed...I guess time really does fly when you're having fun!)

But this time we decided to celebrate on a much smaller scale...in our very own backyard!

In preparation for the party that had to go until at least midnight (August 2nd!), we got an industrial light string and hung it across the clothes line.

We did a bunch of our own cooking: hot dogs, hamburgers, coleslaw, corn pudding, and pasta salad. But we also brought in a taste of Jamaica from the new Middletown Jamaican restaurant, JerkFish: spicy jerk chicken, sweet trelawny chicken, rice and peas and plantains.

And several of our awesome guests brought yummy desserts!!!

My sweet and talented cousins Jessica and Rachel arrived with a handmade chocolate-covered-strawberry-and-roses topiary! Beautiful and delicious! Thanks gals!

Unfortunately, there are no good photos of the party-goers (it was too dark), but about a hundred of our dearest family and friends came to celebrate. Ro's family surprised us and came all the way from Georgia!!! We felt so blessed that so many would come! And we saved the top layer of our wedding cake for a whole year for good luck!

Before Ro and I cut the cake, my adoring husband proclaimed to the crowd how much he loved his wife...

And no, he didn't go on too long this time, but people teased him about that infamous groom's toast, nonetheless!

Here we are cutting the cake at precisely midnight, August 2nd, 2009 on our FIRST anniversary...

And feeding each other the cake, which actually didn't taste too bad! (Grandma did a good job storing it in her freezer!)

And of course, there was cake for everyone else too!

By this time, the food was done...

And so there was not much left to do but KEG STANDS!!!

By the end of the party, Ro and I had had our fill, and we were exhausted...but really really content to just be together. Yes, one year later, we're still going strong!

Thanks to Maureen and Lawrence for helping to photograph the party!

Until next year....
