Mr. 3000!

On Saturday, July 9th, we went to our usual Saturday Yanks game....but this time, the excitement filled the air more than usual, because Derek Jeter was just 2 hits away from number 3,000! We were so hopeful that we would be there on the day he made history!

I have never before seen the crowd take their seats so early as they did on this day....nobody wanted to miss a hit! Good thing they did, because in the very first at-bat in the very first inning, he slapped a single to the outfield! The crowd went nuts....One to go!

And then at his very next at bat, he hit a home run for number 3000! The crowd went nuts, and the standing ovation lasted for what must have been 10 minutes. We wouldn't let the game go on without a few curtain calls for our Captain!

And if that were not enough, Derek then went 5 for 5 in the game, and even batted in the winning run in the 8th! He couldn't be stopped!

Of all the games I've been to, this was by far the most amazing! We even made it onto the jumbo-tron!

After the game, we stuck around for the press conference that was played on the jumbo-tron, and for photos and to purchase DJ3K souvenirs!
